Definition of Kayak Sweep Roll

Definition: The kayak sweep roll is a type of kayak roll whereby the upside-down kayak positions the paddle blade toward the bow of the kayak and on the roll initiation, sweeps the paddle across the surface of the water from the bow to the stern of the kayak. During the sweep of the paddle the kayaker will snap his or her hips thereby rolling the kayak back upright.
