West Virginia's Cheat Canyon section of the Cheat River has earned a reputation for being the classic run for whitewater kayakers and rafters on the east coast. Over the last few decades the Cheat has given up much ground to the New and the Gauley Rivers, both of which are in the area. Still, every year thousands of boaters flock to the Cheat River Festival in May to enjoy this natural beauty, not to mention all of the fun that accompanies the festivities.
