Rowing is one of those sports that has been around since the beginning of time. Even with the storied and illustrious history of rowing, over the course of the centuries much has changed about the activity of rowing. Yet, even with the changes so much about rowing is still the same. Barely similar to canoeing and kayaking, rowing differs in that the paddles (called oars) sit in pivots that are attached to the boat.

This illustrated history of rowing will outline the different phases that rowing has gone through over the years to help you gain an understanding and an appreciation for this great that has stood the test of time.
