Breakdown Paddle

Definition: A breakdown paddle is a kayak paddle that comes in two or more pieces. There is a button on one end of each piece of a breakdown paddle that when pushed allows one side of the paddle to slide into the other. The button then snaps into the other side of the paddle thereby securing the pieces together. To disassemble the kayak paddle, the button is depressed and the paddle is pulled apart.

Examples: I always keep a breakdown paddle in my kayak incase I lose or break my primary kayak paddle.
