Definition of a Canoe Yoke

By

Definition: A canoe yoke is a beam inside of a canoe that allows the canoe to rest on a person's shoulders when transporting it from one place to another. The yoke stretches across the width of the balance point of the canoe which is usually close to the center of the boat. There is a cutout in the middle of the canoe yoke for the person's neck, thereby allowing the canoe to rest on the person's shoulders.
