Florida Braces for Tropical Storm (Hurricane) Isaac as Kayakers Plan to Paddle

Here we go again!  Its that time of year again.  Hurricane Season.   While the proverbial Hurricane Season begins earlier in the summer, it seems the storms try to coordinate with the start of the school year.  South Florida schools have only been back for about a week and they're already closed for a storm.  Which, of course, brings joy to the students who don't have to go to school tomorrow.

There is one other segment of society that is happy when storms plan to hit.  This being a paddling site, I'm referring to kayakers of course.  That's right, storms bring up rivers and bring in sets of waves.  And for the extremist paddlers in our bunch, that means some well sought after conditions.

As far as hurricanes are concerned, you won't really find paddlers in the ocean during the storm.  However, like surfers just before or soon after the hurricane passes, the conditions are prime for surfing and playing.  If you are so daring, here's some tips for kayaking before or after a big storm.

Be safe out there!
