Wow!  The Olympic rivalry between France's Tony Estanguet and Slovakia's Michal Martikan in the C-1 just never ceases to amaze.  Just look at this progression of medal wins over the last 16 years of Men's Olympic Slalom C-1 Canoe competition.

  • 1996 Atlanta Olympics: Michal Martikan wins Gold (Patrice Estanguet wins Bronze)
  • 2000 Sydney Olympics: Tony Estanguet wins Gold; Michal Martikan wins Silver
  • 2004 Athens Olympics: Tony Estanguet wins Gold; Michal Martikan wins Silver
  • 2008 Bejing Olympics: Michal Martikan wins Gold (Tony Estanguet does not medal)
  • 2012 London Olympics: Tony Estanguet wins Gold; Michal Martikan wins Bronze

Not to downplay the other competitor's accomplishments during this time, but the Estanguet - Martikan rivalry is really unbelievable!

Who's going to win the C-1 in the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics?
