U.S. Women's Rowing has certainly returned to position of prominence. In the 2004 Athens Olympics, the U.S. took the Silver medal in the Women's Eights (8+) event. Then in 2008 the ladies won the Gold medal in the same event, their first in 20 years. This year, they are the crew to beat and are already showing the world.
After the first set of heats earlier in this week, the U.S. women's Eights are the only boat to advance straight to the finals, a huge advantage for the ladies.
