Tuesday April 15, 2008

As the famed Olympic torch travels around the world amid adversity en route to Beijing, China, we paddlers have much to look forward to. The Summer Olympics has a great deal to offer paddlers of all types. Whether you canoe or kayak, whether you prefer flatwater or whitewater, or even if crew is your game, the Olympics has events that will grab and hold your attention

It may surprise you (it definitely surprised me) to learn that Canoe / Kayak has been an Olympic Sport since 1936! Who would've guessed?! It may also surprise you to discover that there will be about 30 different events in this year's Olympic Games in the genres of Canoe/Kayak Flatwater, Canoe/Kayak Slalom, and Rowing.

The 2008 Olympics will be held from August 8th to August 24th. Fear not as this site will be your one stop shop for all of your Olympic Paddling background, history, news, and updates. So, be sure to tune in regularly so as not to miss a thing.
